Bangkok
Bangkok elicits visions of grandeur, back alley red light districts, crowded and chaotic streets. Let’s be honest, you can get into trouble in Bangkok. Prepare yourself for the juxtaposition of luxurious restaurants and skyscrapers against the poverty stricken back roads. As anywhere, Bangkok has its hidden gems. But if you’re looking to fill your days with sightseeing and activities, you will not need more than 1 or 2 days in Bangkok.

Tips
Hire a driver for the dayAsk your accommodation to recommend a driver that speaks some English and hire them for an entire day of sightseeing. For $40/day, we were able to see the best of Bangkok without having to worry about navigation or language barriers.

Bring an extra suitcaseBring or buy an extra suitcase to fill with your souvenirs and purchases. The deals really are that good.
Carry a copy of your hotel informationIf you’re going out for a night of drinking or you’re prone to losing things, make sure to carry a copy of the hotel information card with you. Take a picture of your room number if you have to – we’ve all been there.
Don’t let food poisoning ruin your tripBring an anti-diarrheal and don’t drink the tap water. Enjoy sampling local and exotic foods, but use your best judgement. Are locals eating here? Has the food been sitting out in the sun?
